The story is short, so I'm going to make this review short too.
The story -
Clichéd, predictable, poorly built, and BORING!
Art -
It was the worst I've seen. The only thing in the art that I thought was decent were the eyes of the characters. Everything else lacked detail. Most of the time, it still looked like the panels were in the rough draft stage. Almost all of it was line art. It was truly terrible.
Characters -
I understand this story is brief, and there's only so much you can fit into a story of this length, but still... come on? These characters were one-dimensional and as thin as Popeye's girlfriend. Not only that, but the characters didn't seem to mesh or connect with each other, or even with me as the reader.
Enjoyment -
I could have stopped reading this manga at any point while I was going through it. The only reason I kept going until the end was that I wanted to add it to my collection of completed mangas... and that's about it. If it were any longer than 7 chapters, I might have dropped it.
Overall -
I had low expectations before I even started reading, but it managed to fall below them. This manga was just plain awful. I won't tell you not to read it (after all, it's your choice), but I will warn you not to expect much.
The end ^.^
The artwork is truly exceptional. I was surprised to learn that it was the author's very first manga (according to their bio on "myanimelist").
The characters definitely show potential. If this had been a longer-running series, they would have developed beautifully. I appreciated how the trauma they experienced was evident but didn't dictate every decision they made.
I found the story to be adventurous, with just the right amount of angst and a lovely touch of romance. A perfectly balanced mix.
A very enjoyable and quick read. I will certainly explore the prequel and other works by the author.
