However, the lack of romance, even in supporting characters, is a letdown for those expecting a romantic plot.
I might continue reading to see how the story evolves after the genre shift, but the initial presentation could have been clearer, perhaps avoiding the assumption that a female protagonist automatically equates to a romance novel.
