Bai Qi was going through the unluckiest period of time in his entire life.

His boyfriend married another person.

His boyfriend’s older brother came to him with a cheque book in hand. “I’ll give you fifty million…”

Alright, I understand. I should take this fifty million and leave your younger brother alone, am I right?

“I want to hire you to act as my companion for some time,” the older brother said.

“Huh???” Bai Qi asked.

“No kidding, I can be all things. All from a cute and pure white lotus to a flirtatious and calculative minx! I can even fake a pregnancy, an abortion, a break up and get into a quarrel with you! Please dear sir, do tell, which type would you require me to be?”

This might be my lowest rating for a novel on this platform... I gave it a 3.0, but it deserves a 3.5 at least. The protagonist, MC, embodies the 'white halo' trope, but Qi Qi's cuteness and endearing personality make him lovable. The scene where he interacts with the Jiang family, being shamelessly proactive, had me laughing due to the planned nature of it. In terms of power dynamics, Qi Qi is incredibly overpowered in the story, which I actually appreciate as someone who wants to protect the MC from unnecessary hardships.

The male lead, ML, was decent but not your typical arrogant and domineering CEO falling in love at first sight. He is indeed powerful and wealthy, which is a common trait for many MLs in these types of novels. However, the unexpected twists regarding his family and siblings added an intriguing element.

The story itself is straightforward and doesn't require deep thinking. There may be plot holes or areas where the author could have delved further, but considering it's a light read, I can overlook those. It's a slice-of-life novel with an OP couple, some comedic clashes, and a satisfying watch as minor characters suffer their deserved comeuppance. While it's nothing extraordinary, if you're looking for a quick, low-angst, fluff-filled story, this could be worth a try!

Given that the Mandarin-to-English translation might lose some of the charm and impact, my rating would be around 3.5 stars. However, if it were professionally translated, I believe it could easily earn 4 or more stars.

I'm unsure about the rating, so I'll leave it blank; I don't want to be unfair. The beginning is quite cringe-worthy and reminiscent of Wattpad, but it's tolerable because the main character (MC) is likable from the start. It's unclear if it's the author's writing or the translation, but the cringe factor improves as the story progresses. The plot isn't deep, but it provides adequate entertainment.

Qi Qi is an adorable troublemaker I can't help but adore – he's like sunshine, making everyone around him brighter. Though his overpowered nature might bother others, it suits my preference for wanting him to stay happy. The male lead (ML) is average but has a presence, though his character could use more development. The supporting characters, especially the Bai family, are delightful and entertaining, with the ML inheriting traits from his uncle. I'm glad to see the wrongdoers punished.

    A spoiler follows:

Frank is a sweet contrast to his brothers; his upbringing away from them due to his father's issues sets him apart. Qi Qi takes care of Frank, but ML accepts it without jealousy, appreciating his younger sibling's innocence.

One of the highlights is the well-written wedding chapter, which stands out from others for its detailed description despite its brevity. Overall, the story improves significantly after the initial chapters. I would have liked more content and a less melancholic ending.

Let's evaluate this piece step by step:

    Pros:
    1. The main character (MC) is likable, clear about his desires, and unapologetic.
    2. Although the male lead (ML) has some flaws, he has his own storylines beyond supporting the MC, providing some depth.
    3. The plot progresses efficiently, avoiding unnecessary dragging over 100 chapters.
    4. The family relationships are portrayed positively and warm.
    5. There are charming and tender moments between the MC and ML as their love develops.

    Cons:
    1. The MC comes across as a bit of a Mary Sue, excelling in almost everything and rarely facing significant challenges.
    2. The MC tends to resolve problems solely for himself, without much external struggle.
    3. The story contains plot inconsistencies and apparent gaps in the author's knowledge about the entertainment industry, business, and high society lifestyle.

In summary, the book is an enjoyable read but might be better suited as a single-time experience due to its shortcomings.

This is a heartwarming situation, despite the possessiveness and territorial nature of the main character (ML). He understands his boundaries and plans to win the protagonist (MC) gently, by causing a bit of annoyance around their ambitious career. MC's innocence and pretense of affection are endearing, even if he欺骗 both others and ML, unknowingly falling for his own act.

In terms of the story, while it has potential, the author could have executed it better in guiding the reader's understanding. For instance, the character Frank's reveal could have been foreshadowed earlier, rather than coming as a sudden plot twist.

Surprisingly, I found myself feeling sympathetic towards Jiang Fencheng. His actions contributed to MC's emotional turmoil, and although MC claims confusion after their breakup and no lingering feelings, there are hints that suggest a deeper connection might have developed had circumstances been different.

Overall, it's a decent read, despite the occasional confusion stemming from the translation. I wish the author better luck with future works.

The character design and overall vibe are adorable and entertaining. I really appreciate the ML and MC's dynamics. However, the international plot falls flat with an unfortunate level of cringe. It's as if the author hasn't familiarized themselves with foreign cultures, and the portrayal of ethnicity is off-putting, verging on ethnocentric stereotypes. My personal experience in China taught me that when I was a noticeable minority there, I still encountered locals, but the narrative here vastly exaggerates the lack of Asians in English-speaking countries. In reality, every place I've visited has a higher level of cultural diversity compared to what's depicted. Despite its significance to the story, I wish the author would have taken more cultural sensitivity into account.

I found this novel enjoyable for its lighthearted "protagonist's luck" storyline, where everything seems to work in their favor. It's not a realistic tale, but it provides a soothing read if one chooses not to delve too deeply into its unrealistic aspects. The protagonist doesn't experience significant hardships; yes, there were family ups and downs and a breakup, but he navigated those challenges with an optimistic demeanor. In fact, his ex's fixation on him afterward suggests that he might not have been wronged. Overall, it's a self-satisfying narrative.

The translator skillfully breaks down each chapter into manageable sections (C82 to C25, Part 5), ensuring that the content remains clear and accessible for English readers. (*_^)
