Trapped Between Two Alphas

As I muttered to myself in the darkness of night, "What's that?" a sudden movement caught my attention. The only illumination was a feeble lamp, guiding me along my path home. "Oh my God! What could it be?" I whispered, heart racing, as the unknown entity drew nearer. Then, a soft whisper brushed past my left ear, "She's back, and she won't hesitate," sending shivers down my spine. Fear gripped me, compelling me to flee. With each step, I sensed an unseen presence hot on my heels. In my haste, I stumbled over a stone, sending the precious lamp crashing to the ground with a deafening crash. As I struggled to regain my footing, I was jolted by an eerie sensation. It felt as though whatever was pursuing me was inches from my face, yet invisible to my eyes. All I could detect was the distinct smell of warm human blood, heightening my terror.
