Michael Morris believes he's hit the jackpot with Allison Kennemore. She's kind, humorous, stunning, and they seem like the ideal couple. However, deep down, Michael is avoiding the truth. His feelings become complicated when he meets Allison's charismatic, good-looking, and openly gay brother, Jacob. As Allison uncovers Michael's growing interest in Jacob, she is heartbroken. In retaliation, she decides to play a game, pretending not to know about his secret and intensifying her efforts to attract him, hoping to make him uncomfortable. Throughout his teenage years, Michael struggled to conceal his true identity, but now it's proving challenging. When Allison suggests taking their relationship to the next level, Michael realizes that being her perfect boyfriend is his only chance to stay connected to Jacob. The fear of losing his connection to Jacob looms large. As Jacob starts to catch on to Michael's hidden feelings, Michael faces a crucial decision: should he reveal his true self and risk losing everything, or continue hiding for the sake of this fleeting connection?

I was enjoying this story—a little. EE…It seems like IF one entered a sect to cultivate, that a cheat that made cultivation irrelevant would take away all the satisfaction—most of the satisfaction—out of attaining higher realms. Still. the tongue-in-cheek way the author handled the story made it halfway amusing. Then the act that ruins so many of these cultivation stories occurred. The protagonist ordered the little girl under his tutelage, to cripple someone's cultivation. I have no problem with murder—even torture, under the right motivation—But in a cultivation world, as described, absolutely NOTHING would justify crippling someone. There is an old proverb: "How do you hurt someone who has lost everything? Answer: Give him back something dear to him—BROKEN." IF one had been a cultivator, normal life would be hopelessly broken. Every second of every day would be like walking with shards of glass in one's shoes. You know, JUST ONCE I'd like to read about someone promptly committing Seppuku upon having their cultivation crippled. Ah well, I rant.0 0 Reply
