The crimson-haired girl simply reattaches his arm. Time returns to normal, except now everyone around him, including Hirai, seems drained of the energy they once possessed. Yuji asks the flame-eyed girl what happened and how he survived. "It won't go away," the girl says to her gem. "Explain everything, and then it will leave," the gem named Alastor replies. So the girl tells Yuji, "You are a torch, and they are torches. You are a thing, not human. His existence was taken by that monster a while back, and was replaced by you, the thing called a torch. It helps delay your non-existence, allowing Yuji's existence to fade away more slowly, until no one remembers you, and you never existed."
