fighter jets: 1 range is as long as its fuel (can be expanded as necessary). 2 fuel is used as it is used. 3 can be outfitted with armaments immediately
wyverns: 1 range is as long as it sees land. 2 food is digested and the creature must be fed again. 3 must be trained to use armaments

the only benefit to wyverns that i can think of is the fact that they already exist

This author is like the master of creating episodic stories that don't really go anywhere (Takagi-san, Shogi senpai, etc). Not that it's a bad thing, but it'd be nice to see them try making a story with a clear end goal and the intention to get there.
