    Since the romance never comes to fruition, you’d assume the political subplot would shine in its place, but it’s even worse than the romance. The antagonists are pathetic and the man meant to be pulling the strings behind the villainess falls without any fanfare and without actually *doing* anything, all so our heroine can forgive the villainess and they can further rub in our face how kind she is. Because, and I have no hard feelings against her, being kind is one of her only personality traits. The one merit of this story is that at least our female main character is actually a protagonist who’s actions drive the story forward, because many other female leads are just empty shells that sit and watch while things happen to them.

    I have no clue why some authors always overdo romance. I seriously don't get their mindset and wonder what they think of women in general. Just give MC one good, romancable character. Why are you throwing like 30 at this poor guy? Women and men aren't that different; they can cheat, steal, bother you, hate you, or kill you. These authors show women as if they were some kind of new species.
