It pretty much toes the line between both romance and non-romance. That's what defined their relationship: not necessarily a forbidden love, but both parties feeling stuck in a void between the two options. A forbidden love usually involves external forces which are the only things impeding the relationship. Here, the party involved is also dealing with their own moral qualms: still affected by external societal forces, but she isn't so quick to disregard them in favor of developing the relationship. (I may be pulling words out of my ass because I haven't finished the series yet.)

It is still expected that it would be portrayed as a "romance" for marketing purposes, although a bit misleading. I know Kodansha's series description didn't portray this as a typical romance.

This manga is a great example of a protagonist who literally does nothing. Everything happens to/for him, just by coincidence. It isn’t comedic, it’s just lazy.

I'd sacrifice the existence of many major manga series for this to have more chapters.

maybe it got axed, maybe the author just didn't have anything to write about anymore, yes we could've gotten more from this manga, but I just wanna say thank you for a great ride to the writers, drawers, and translaters
