This is just Promised Neverland 2.0 but this time, they're stuck at the Orphanage since most characters are one-dimensional except one pair.
To summarize the progression of the important side characters after 170+ chapters: John, a good loyal dog that can only chase Kate's skirt, hey at least he learned how to create a shield now. Shaun, a smart robot that's highly intelligent but incapable of self-decision making that can only work if his master says so. Patrick, the obssessive one-sided love maniac that can blurt out marriage proposals with little to no build-up. Ricky's probably just the same, and lastly, the Lou couple which is the unpredictable walking liability for the group.
170+ chapters and they're still stuck and nowhere near in defeating the entry-base level villain named Edward, when there's the other enemy Adults and Lords that needed to be dealt with. This is the slowest character progression I've ever read in any LN's or Manga.
just go experience it yourself
