Btw wtf fluffywholesome is yapping about!??
I give it 10 only because I consider Nano Machine to be the best in its genre (a great mix of martial arts and sci-fi).
Mostly OP MC doing his thing, which is not one thing. As is common in these series, the plot is going to be long and meandering.
The MC is merciless, but not evil. He loves people and cares for his subordinates, anyone else who stands in his is eminently choppable.
The series is exciting and an enjoyable read overall, there were a few satisfying and cool moments. The story isn't amazing, but it flows well.
Mission Parameters: No harem in a murim manhwa with power scaling plot and a male adult Main Character.
Results: Impossible.
Even if it's not a harem
GROSS.
Typical OP always wins MC. The most interesting parts of the story are the characters beside MC. Manhwa was great for a while but became stale and a regretable waste of time. Even after time skips MC does not develop a personality.
MC is selfish and hypocritical but constantly written to seem as a good guy in only the most self serving ways. He has quippy one-liners of 'eye for an eye' and generic notions of half baked justice but constantly commits atrocities to people who are unrelated to his enemies actions.
After 190 chapters you begin to understand that the authors' unhinged and out of touch mentality seeps into the story with half baked attempts at justifying slaughter, torture, and rape of people who did not directly harm him.
The undertone of toxic entitlement is pervasive through the entire story and its hard to ignore because of how often the author wants to insist that MC is somehow a moral character but fails to have MC mature at all throughout the story. The story fails to commit to the MC being evil or a good person, instead being the most obnoxious mixture of an immature buffoon who preaches that he is the good guy and ends up mirroring the personality of generic cultivation antagonists.
I was really enjoying it, but I'm dropping & lowering my rating because this most recent arc was really uncomfortable - I mean, really? Nano couldn't whip out something else to save the unconscious girl other than to go along with this "f**k or she dies" nonsense? I read a couple extra chapters in hopes that maybe they'd reveal that they actually did something else, but in chapter 178, both the girl & her dad mention several times how she & MC had "pre-marital intercourse" in order to save her.
Someone tell me if it gets revealed later on that this didn't actually happen, because I might come back if so. As of right now though, it makes me feel kinda icky about the whole thing; I know the MC was saying he didn't really want to do it either, but I'm still disappointed that the author chose to go with this route when this whole thing could have been avoided if they just used the handy dandy Nano from the future. Goodness.
First I tought it was just the translation, but the story is messy too, especially after the MC leaves the academy.
The story so far as of Nov 13 is well-paced with some bland and predictable plot points, but an overall cool story. I like the characters and agree with some of the critiques about the weird amount of praise the MC is getting, but it's because no one knows he has the nano-machine so they think he's a genius. In the most recent chapters, the MC has to help a lady whose qi is going crazy and he needs to have s*x with her so that her qi won't kill her (or something like that). I disagree with people saying he raped her because he has to do it to save her. But I think it is a weird plot point and was unnecessary for the story.
To those judging the Manhwa off of the fanbase then you can fuck off, if you judge a whole story by the readers then you didn't want to like the story to begin with. Just read the story and don't care about what others say, and if someone says to you "Why are you reading an incel manhwa?" they are too invested in judging and controlling other's hobbies.
Snyopsis: Good story, A few weird plot points, Classic OP MC, Good pacing, Good Art, kinda repetitious but still interesting in the differences between how the story changes.
