    i could be wrong but i see it differently. the way it sounded when i read it was that the goblins have unlimited potential and seeing as they were comfortable with their lifestyle they never evolved long lives. with the new system they began needing longer lives and therefore their soul took on a life of its own after the body died rebirthing it into a longer living goblin. this is why we see it as a skill, because the soul took the skill inside itself and became reborn. thats just my guess though.
