This series misses a lot of what I love about the trope. There is little sense of adventure or a looming sense of ancient majesty lost to time: the castle simply came into being as the main character's fantasy wish and just is. There are better series that handle this trope (One Piece and Asebi and Adventurers of Sky World spring first to mind).
