We dealing with Nyarlathotep now, it even does magic, it has been some time since we kinda left the biological roots to which the kaiju powers seemed to subscribe to and we getting eldritch with this bitch.

BUT... I do have one theory of why those "letters" appear in its targets... it may be some sort of projection from its eyes that works more like a "targeting laser", when it closes the eye that is used to project it launches a wave of energy.

Now why does it look like "letters"... your guess is as good as mine.

You know... this series had a much more interesting premise when Kafka was working as a worker for kaiju disposal, and if the author wanted to put some action... he could have made a two-front story where we would focus on both the work and logistics of cleaning kaiju remains and the hunting of those creatures... but we got a pretty baseline shounen story in the end.
