She's not doing that because she's racist. She believes the minority should shut up and take it, and learn to accept their position while slowly adapting and joining the majority. It just so happens that 'minority' in this case, are non-humans, (i.e if majority was non-humans, she'd be siding with them instead) and she's so out of touch and self righteous to think otherwise. Also, she's capable because she can do her work, not being a drooling idiot - nothing to do with her ideology.

Actual racial discrimination (in this story) is our MC towards humans, although he does it at an unconscious level. Or in the newest chapter, the mage and prince, looking down on the dwarf because she's a dwarf.

How pitiful these chracters are. Why do they mourn for the loss of someone they've hurt before? Why only now, when shes gone for "good" , they regret their actions? Fuck I'm so invested into this story. Can't wait for when the next season is released.

That explains why that old fart knew that magic.

And now we have a explanation why doing magic directly into the body is dangerous.

What a bizarre ride. Seen with nostalgia glasses off, Hakusho is a meandering rookie manga.

It starts with a slice of life premise, then turns into a battle manga for most of its run, then struggles to attempt world building and give us much needed exposition for lead characters in what feels like a reversion to episodic stories. But this only happens right at the end, in a series of epilogues.

It's not very good - powerups are literally handed over or magically pulled out of thin air, there's little to no character growth, the cast is meager and the world isn't well explained. But, it did give togashi the experience he needed to find his voice to write HxH.

Watch the anime, it's better than this manga in almost every respect. HxH is a better use of your time.
