The fillers were very long arcs just here to fit the void and let manga advance enough, but some of them were good. Individual ones were often enjoyable and funny.
But even with the flaws and the awful pace, back in those days, that was a bliss. The music, the story, the animation... It was great in the 2000'. The first part, Soul Society (1-63), is one of the best adaptation of a shonen from this era ever. The openings / endings are the best.
The last part was bad, but the story was the problem.
