Why does every single girl he has any connection to have to be a loli? And why is every adult either a piece of shit or a background character?

If we're speaking only about the novel version, then Seoul Station's Necromancer is much better written than Solo Leveling on pretty much all levels (narrative flow, characters (depth, growth and relevance), (the thing that made everyone else not relevant in Solo Leveling was that only the mc could grow more powerful(level up), while here everyone can grow in power), the depth of the power systems, the romance, etc.)
In short, novel-wise, Seoul Station's Necromancer is a good novel while Solo Leveling is a mediocre one.

On the other hand, when it comes to their respective webtoon adaptation, Solo Leveling has insanely good art while Seoul Station's Necromancer only has slightly above average Korean webtoon art. We'll also have to wait and see how well the novel is going to be adapted. Solo Leveling was very well adapted, to the point where the webtoon is MUCH better than the novel version.
Let us hope that Seoul Station's Necromancer gets at least half that lucky.
