Buchou Shima Kousaku

Hatsushiba Electric president Kiichi Nakazawa, who has mentored Shima since their time together in the sales division, transfers Shima to Hatsushiba Trading, an affiliate of the firm. This move aims to shield Shima from a looming factional power struggle expected to erupt within the company following Nakazawa's resignation. Shima begins his new role as the representative executive director by securing a deal with a French wine producer. His work involves frequent travel between Japan, France, and England, focusing on sourcing the finest wines and selling them at optimal prices. Throughout this journey, Shima receives invaluable assistance from several key women: Kumiko, his subordinate and long-term affair partner; Kumiko's mother, who leverages her extensive network of wealthy individuals worldwide; and a mysterious hostess from a cozy Shinjuku bar, well-connected in the wine industry.
