It's a given that this will happen. If you're the kind of person that is good at everything and manage everything with ease even when the person standing by has the confidence to say that they're the best, then it makes most sense to feel demotivated and it will essentially result in the person giving up. It's simply unfulfilling to live your life in someone else's shadow. Can't blame Tsurayuki.
I think a lot of people are misinterpreting Denji's words this chapter.
He's only starting to realise what his loved ones meant for him, thanks to Asa's words and now Pochita's work. He's been so fucked up he's whole life that right now he can only truly understand his primal instincts, hunger and sex drive. After being manipulated his whole life, and taught what to think, it's no wonder why he can't understand his true feelings. In fact it would be weird if he suddenly realises all of this, and suddenly manages to step up out of the Hedonic Treadmill he's been on his entire life. (Mr. Morj has a great video on this on his Manga Morj channel)
I'm about halfway through this at the time of writing this, so keep that in mind...
This manga is pretty wild, but it's dope nonetheless. It isn't your typical sci-fi for sure. This manga bends so many rules that it could be classified as something different entirely. I think this manga definitely boasts features that many other sci-fi manga lack.
