I wrote this review simply to balance the existing positive and negative feedback.
Story: 7
I found the premise very appealing and was eager to see its execution. The story itself was enjoyable, though sometimes the arc explanations were a bit confusing. Additionally, some arcs felt unnecessarily stretched out by a couple of chapters. Fortunately, there were fun interludes between major plot points, giving readers a break from the heavier themes.
Art: 7
The artwork was decent—not outstanding but far from poor. Action scenes could be a bit cluttered, but there wasn't much to complain about overall.
Characters: 7
The characters fit typical shounen stereotypes. We have the hot-headed, impulsive type; the aloof, dark-haired character with a troubled past; and our protagonist, who is weak yet has unique abilities. It's a familiar formula that works well enough here. One redeeming quality of the protagonist is that she often fades into the background during fights, avoiding overexposure. Side characters were entertaining, and my favorite was Zarame (even though he barely speaks). I just like the idea of a mini shinigami.
Enjoyment: 8
I genuinely enjoyed this manga. There were a few quirks that made it stand out and kept me reading. The concept was cool, the characters meshed well together, and despite occasional confusion, the storyline was understandable.
I would recommend it. Will it be the best thing you ever read? Probably not, but it's a good story with some laughs and decent character development. Just give it a shot!
