On the surface, SEES—the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad—is just a regular club at Gekkoukan High School. In reality, they are students who investigate the "Dark Hour" phenomenon and combat entities known as "Shadows." Only individuals with "potential" can recall the Dark Hour; others transform into coffins and fall prey to Apathy Syndrome—a condition that leaves victims in a trance and strips them of their will to live.
Minato Arisato, a transfer student, is one such individual capable of remembering Dark Hour events, though he's unaware of this ability. Upon arriving at school, he encounters a mysterious figure who asks him to sign a contract taking responsibility for his actions. Soon after, SEES members secretly observe him, believing he has potential surpassing theirs.
One night, Yukari Takeba wakes Minato when a Shadow attacks their dorm during the Dark Hour. Impelled to fight, Minato grabs Yukari's gun but, instead of targeting the Shadow, uses it on himself, awakening his "Persona." With these new powers, Minato joins SEES to unravel the mystery behind the phenomenon.
"Persona 3" is based on the PS2 game by Atlus. The series was published in English by Udon Entertainment from October 4, 2016, to October 29, 2019. It has also been published in Spanish by ECC Ediciones since June 26, 2019.
