Model was one of those Manga's I noticed sitting on the Barnes&Noble shelf. I said, "Hey, never heard of that one!" and decided to buy it.
The art was one of the first aspects I found wonderful about the story. It possesses a very unique style, captivating me with its eye-catching scenery and beautiful character design. Although more feminine, the style perfectly suited the story.
The plot reminded me of a half-started puzzle. Initially, it didn't make much sense, offering bits and pieces without revealing the big picture. However, slowly, the story comes together leading to a fascinating end. Yes, it is challenging to follow at first, but eventually, it concludes fittingly for the story.
The characters also distinguish this manga from most vampire stories. Jae is a strong heroine, which I don't often encounter. Typically, you get the "Oh no, I was ensnared by the beautiful creature, oh help" character, but Jae is definitely curious and strong-willed. Michael is closer to your stereotypical vampire: sadistic, blood-thirsty, stuck up, but the author gave him an interesting twist. They made him an artist and gave him a very juicy past. Ken, although being the rebellious and rudely playful stranger, plays a very important role and really becomes one of the characters you want to see succeed. And Eva has one of the most dynamic setups among them.
Not usually a fan of vampire love stories, I still found this to be an enthralling tale! I would definitely recommend this!
This narrative feels like stepping into an uncharted realm. You yearn to linger, yet fear grips you. The solitude and tranquility weigh heavily on your spirit, making it impossible to put the book down. That's how I felt from the very first page. Every flip brought humor, sorrow, love, and adventure. You could sense the emotions of the characters, understanding their motivations even if you disliked them. Their passion was palpable in every word.
The artwork is stunning! The story timeless. My recommendation is to savor it slowly; there's no need to rush. Take your time, and each word will etch itself into your memory. I loved it so much that I read it again. It's worth every minute. Give it a try, and you won't stop until you've finished. You have my word. ^ ^
Yeah, the model is pretty awesome. I can say I enjoyed it. However, it was very hard to read as some pages were right to left and some were left to right. I probably read some parts wrong, but who knows! Despite the difficulty in reading, I believe it was the most gothic, horrifying, yet enjoyable manga ever.
First off, I must say how captivating Model is as you begin to dive into it. At a particular convention (coughOHAYOCONcough), my mom purchased the first three volumes just for me to try out. The very next day, we had to return to buy the remaining four volumes because I had already devoured the initial three and was eager for more.
The narrative itself is exceptionally unique. I've never encountered such an engaging vampire story, peppered with quirky twists here and there. The ending felt somewhat rushed, though if there's a better word for it, I can't think of one; nonetheless, it still left me with a sense of fulfillment.
You could express similar sentiments about the artwork as you did regarding the storyline. It's evident that the mangaka dedicated considerable time and thought into planning each page. While it wasn't the finest artwork ever, the characters were well-drawn, and I particularly adored the covers of the volumes!
The character personalities were also well-crafted, and I genuinely enjoyed each character's attitude as they delved deeper into sensitive topics. If this ever gets adapted into an anime, I would absolutely love to voice Jae, the main character. She's so spirited and always has the right words, but her downside is her indecisiveness when it comes to choosing a lover.
Model is undoubtedly something you wouldn't want to miss out on, at the very least. It promises to keep you entertained and eagerly awaiting the next volume!
OH, MY GOD! I absolutely adore this manhwa—it's a masterpiece. The art style is so unique; even the lips, though somewhat awkward, still suit the characters perfectly. The characters appear quite cold, BUT THEY ARE SO COOL! I'm in love with this manhwa and the MODEL.
I truly enjoyed this manhwa. I was on the lookout for a good love story involving vampires, and I stumbled upon this one. It's my second time reading it because during my first read, I felt a bit confused. Now, things have become clearer, and I still adore it.
Story: 8/10
I didn't anticipate the romantic dynamics between the male characters, but the narrative is crafted in such a way that it didn't bother me. So, don't dismiss it if you're not into that aspect. It's an excellent story that might get perplexing when Adrian appears since the plot thickens. Hence, I suggest reading it attentively; it's something uniquely interpretable by each reader, including the ending itself. I've seen various fan interpretations of how they understood the conclusion.
Characters: 8/10
I absolutely adore Jae. She's spirited and stubborn, intolerant of nonsense. Michael is a complex character, as he should be, given his centuries-long existence as a vampire. Eva and Ken are tormented souls. My favorite male character is Ken due to his remarkable growth throughout the story.
Art: 10/10
Pure awesomeness in all its gothic glory.
Enjoyment: 9/10
It kept me hooked until the very end. I read it all in one night. (I literally saw their images in my sleep, hahaha)
Overall: 8/10
A hundred times better love story than Vampire Knight, in my opinion. If you're a fan of vampires like me, you should definitely give this one a chance. :)
The synopsis for this manga intrigued me, and the artwork was distinctive and beautiful.
However, at times I found the story difficult to follow. Sometimes, I wasn't sure if I was reading about current events or past ones. The artwork and coloring also made it hard to identify who was speaking, and I often missed speech bubbles due to them blending into dark backgrounds.
The plot seemed to shift its focus; it started with their contract but gradually became more about the mysteries surrounding the mansion. That storyline was interesting, but it wasn't what initially attracted me, which left me feeling somewhat disappointed. By the end, most of the loose ends were tied up, which is always a plus in mangas that pose many questions.
I liked the characters and how they were portrayed, especially Ken. Although we learn how the characters ended up in the mansion, I don't think they developed very well. They did react to events, but we didn’t see enough of their inner motivations, at least not for my taste.
The artwork was both a highlight and a drawback for me. As mentioned earlier, it was sometimes hard to read, making it easy to confuse speakers, which was quite frustrating. Ignoring the text, though, the manga was visually stunning. The drawing style was unique (for mainstream manga) and had an elegant flair. However, it also made the manga feel less 'authentic' to me, more like a Western comic trying to be a manga, which was peculiar.
Overall, while I enjoyed reading Model, I wouldn't encourage people to rush out and buy it. The story and characters were interesting, but I don't think they'll stick with me for long. And it certainly hasn't turned me into a Model fangirl.

I have delved into numerous vampire-themed manga, each offering unique perspectives on the psychology and behavior of vampires. "Model" portrays them as beings strikingly similar to humans, from their appearance to their thoughts and emotions. Despite this human-like portrayal, the vampires in this series still detest sunlight, are cold-blooded and immortal, and naturally, they consume blood.
The plot is intricately constructed, spanning just 7 volumes, ensuring it remains engaging without becoming tedious. Additionally, the artwork in this manga is exceptional. Reading it evokes a wonderful sensation, making it a must-read for anyone with even a slight interest in love stories.
By the way, the ending is superb.
