    I truly loved this manga!
It grabbed my attention right from the first chapter~ "Koukou Debut" will have you laughing so hard you'll cry and it will warm your heart!
Haruna is a tomboy, and when told "don't fall in love with me," it's clear she can't escape her fate, right?
Well, Yoh, her coach, is a very charming boy in this story who gradually mellows out thanks to Haruna's influence, her optimistic and somewhat clueless personality ^^

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED =D

I read all 30 chapters within just half a day - you can check it out at onemanga.com =)
(I really wish others would share links where we can read all these anime, you know!?!)

Anyway, I had a great time with this manga =]
And I hope you enjoy it too!

This one bears a striking resemblance to the exceptional Love Com, but it was still genuinely adorable. Very enjoyable and sweet. I suppose I do quite enjoy shoujo after all, hahaha. I wonder if by now I've actually read more shoujo than shounen!

While this story doesn't bring anything particularly groundbreaking to the genre, it was still a delightful read. Essentially, Haruna, who has never been approached romantically (which is hard to believe since she's pretty!), asks Yoh (the typical shoujo male lead) to "coach" her on how to be attractive. Hilarious antics follow, and the rest is history. They find themselves in amusing situations :D. Both main characters are extremely likable (though I must say, I didn’t care for Yoh’s sister Asami), and you can't help but root for them.

A cute and fun short read!

I was immediately drawn to this manga at first glance. Initially, I thought it would be one of those boring stories where nothing ever happens. However, as I started reading, I quickly fell in love with it. This is a fantastic manga that I would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind a romance that unfolds over the first few chapters and deepens throughout the story.

I felt so sad when it ended, but let me tell you, this manga doesn't leave anything unresolved. In my opinion, it's one of the best things I've ever read because it consistently introduces new elements and explores situations that could realistically happen. I especially loved how the writer portrayed their love as something incredibly strong and enduring.

The story of Koukou Debut is light-hearted, evokes feelings akin to "butterfly kisses," and offers a genuine slice of life with each chapter. Romance manga enthusiasts will find this tale delightful and easy to relate to.

The fluffy romance between a tomboyish girl and the school heartthrob unfolds as follows: Haruna Nagashima can be likened to a butterfly emerging from its cocoon—strong-willed and determined. Her junior high years were spent playing softball, but now that she's in high school, she dreams of having a boyfriend and experiencing an unforgettable high school romance. The big question is: how will she achieve it? Luckily, she stumbles upon Yoh Komiyama, a popular and attractive senior. With some gentle persuasion, Yoh agrees to help her shed her jock-like demeanor and transform into someone who can attract a guy. Sounds too good to be true? Think again! He agrees to assist Haruna under one condition: she must not fall for him!

The characters are masterfully crafted. Their evolution is evident, making it easy to empathize with their experiences. You'll find yourself rooting for Haruna on her quest for love because she's genuinely endearing—a clumsy, naive sweetheart with adorable quirks. Her vibrant personality shines like a bright pink, contrasting perfectly with Yoh’s cool, blue demeanor. Yoh, being naturally popular among girls, hides an honest, shy side filled with insecurities about relationships.

What I loved most about this manga is the romance between Haruna and Yoh, which progresses at a steady pace, highlighting that nobody's perfect in love. You can clearly see how they fall for each other, considering Yoh’s past and the couple’s doubts about whether they're truly meant for each other.

In summary, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and I'm sure you will too. This manga can boost your self-esteem and offer new perspectives on relationships. To conclude my review:

"Koukou Debut is like a cake. Sweet and fluffy with a slice of life in every bite."

When I first read this manga, I have to admit, I felt a bit bored at the start. Being someone who's more into love/hate relationships where the couple is always clashing, it wasn't quite my usual taste. But as I continued reading, I found myself increasingly drawn in, eager for more. The storytelling was truly well-executed! I particularly admired how Kawahara-sama handled character development. It wasn’t the cliché kind of change you often see in other manga that only lasts briefly. I genuinely recommend this to anyone who's ever felt lost – like me. This may not be the type of anime you become obsessed with, but it's definitely a masterpiece.

The way drama was incorporated didn’t feel overdone, which I appreciated. I’ve grown tired of plots where once a couple starts dating, the girl gets bullied and so on. For example, what happened to Sawako in Kimi ni Todoke... although I absolutely loved that story! It made me all warm and fuzzy inside XD.

Anyway, my point is that this manga was crafted exceptionally well and deserves consideration for an anime adaptation :) So, for those of you who haven’t checked it out yet, I strongly suggest giving it a read. You’ll be just as surprised as I was when you first start reading it and find yourself completely engrossed =))) Why not give it a shot?

    One plot. Love.

There's nothing particularly 'AWESOME' about this manga, except for its remarkable consistency.

Nagashima Haruna seeks her true love and asks a guy named Yoh to tutor her on how to become more attractive to get a boyfriend. What happens next? Yes, of course, they fall in love with each other.

What I appreciate about this story is that Haruna isn't the weak type of girl. For example, unlike Sawako from Kimi ni Todoke, Haruna demonstrates how girls can fight for what they truly love without fear of the consequences. She has a very strong personality, which contrasts interestingly with Yoh, who is somewhat shy about his feelings (though he's not weak—he's cool too, haha!).

Seldom have I come across a long-running shoujo manga that captivated me as much as Koukou Debut. Every aspect, from the characters to the artwork, was thoroughly enjoyable for me!

The concept is straightforward yet invigorating - Haruna, who dedicated her middle school years to softball, desires to find a boyfriend and experience a "normal" teenage girl's life in high school. She encounters Yoh, the cool and popular heartthrob, and persuades him to be her "coach," under the condition that she mustn't fall in love with him!

Even though we all anticipate that this stipulation will inevitably be breached, Koukou Debut skillfully maintains its freshness afterward. The story plunges the unsuspecting couple into peculiar situations, often leading to hilarious outcomes, while also including tender moments where they share their inner thoughts. The mangaka excels at making each character relatable and endearing through their interactions, which I believe is one of the manga's strongest attributes!

On the flip side, some readers might find certain scenes overly sentimental. However, I personally think there's a fine line between cliché and an "Awwwww, that's so sweet" moment!

So, if you're ready to laugh uncontrollably, squeal like an excited fangirl, and even feel tears well up in your eyes, then I wholeheartedly recommend hopping on the Koukou Debut emotional rollercoaster!

I completely adore this manga!!! It was impossible not to be captivated by the blossoming romance between the popular yet shy Yoh and the dense but incredibly sweet and passionate Haruna. This manga is packed with comedy, love, drama, and all the elements that make for an extraordinary read :). I found myself laughing out loud at the characters' antics and even shedding tears alongside them. It was disheartening to learn that the series had reached its conclusion, but despite that, it will always hold a special place in my heart as one of my favorites :D.

Koukou Debut revolves around Nagashima Haruna, a tomboy who has just started high school. In middle school, she was the star softball player and paid no attention to romance or relationships. Upon entering high school, she sets her sights on finding love. Unfortunately, she lacks fashion sense and combines outfits from various magazines without much thought. One day, she meets Komiyama Yoh, a cool and popular guy. She begs him to help her improve her appearance, which he agrees to do under one condition: she must not fall in love with him.

The story is engaging. As it's a shojo manga, there are typical elements like rival romances and heartbreaks. However, the author handles these scenarios uniquely compared to other series I've read. Sometimes, you think the plot will go one way, but it takes an entirely different direction, making the manga more enjoyable and less predictable. The narrative is told through Haruna's perspective, and her innocence leads to humorous moments.

The artwork is excellent. It's clear that the artist dedicated considerable time to drawing detailed characters. The clothing and character designs look quite realistic, unlike some generic manga characters whose hair or eyes can seem unrealistic.

The character development is outstanding. Haruna, with her tomboyish, cheerful, clumsy, and somewhat naive personality, is amusing. Her character is fun to follow. Meanwhile, Yoh, initially portrayed as cool and aloof, gradually becomes less reserved. What I appreciate about this manga is how both Yoh and Haruna influence each other, causing mutual growth. Even the supporting characters have their own development, making them feel like real characters rather than mere background figures.

This manga was highly enjoyable. Many parts were funny, especially due to the author's art style. Some scenes had me laughing out loud, while others were incredibly sweet and cute. The characters develop well as they tackle problems. The supporting characters' development was impressive, though some could have been explored further. I particularly loved how certain situations unfolded unexpectedly. I truly enjoyed this manga and found it extremely entertaining. Hope you enjoy it too!

    Story 7/10

After reading the initial chapters, I held high hopes for this manga. The premise was unique, appealing, and thrilling. Initially, I appreciated the dynamic between the main characters and how the story progressed. Surprisingly, it wasn't overly cliché, except for the main female character being a crybaby. However, halfway through, the story started to become dull with nothing significant happening. Many arcs felt unnecessary and didn't contribute much to the overall plot. At times, it seemed like arcs were recycled just to keep the manga going. Had the manga been shorter, cutting out filler arcs, the story would have had more impact. By the end, I just wanted to finish it (as I rarely drop anything I start, no matter how bad it is). In summary, I thought it would be better than it turned out to be (I read it without knowing much about it). This manga had great potential.

I liked that although the story was somewhat predictable, things didn’t always happen as expected. For example, I assumed Yoh would confess first since Haruna would be too scared after he warned her not to fall in love with him. Also, I thought it would take them longer to get together, but they entered the relationship fairly easily. I also appreciated how relatable Haruna’s feelings were at times. Her sadness and insecurity about Yoh's past made sense, even if it isn’t rational to feel bad about a partner's history. It happens and is a valid emotion. Plus, bravo! No love triangles. Along these lines, Yoh’s ex was well-utilized to advance Yoh and Haruna’s relationship.

    Art 8/10

The art was decent, not the best I've seen. Attention to detail in drawing the characters was evident, and everything seemed fitting. I also liked how the characters' appearances matched their personalities well.

    Character 8/10

I enjoyed the dynamic between Yoh and Haruna. They were both odd in their ways but perfect for each other. It was hilarious when Yoh told Haruna he felt like he'd found a boyfriend, and his patience allowed her to be herself without judgment.

Haruna: I admired her determination and good-hearted nature. She didn’t notice when people tried to be mean to her. Haruna was authentic. However, she became incredibly awkward after her first kiss with Yoh, which made me cringe. We all get nervous, but it felt exaggerated. Her "male role" traits, like being overprotective and strong, were also exaggerated. It was funny initially but grew old. Why did she have to physically fight girls to prove her love for Yoh? That felt misplaced.

Yoh: Nothing stands out about Yoh, but he's likable. While he coached Haruna's growth, I think Yoh grew more from their relationship. His transformation was enjoyable and believable, unlike the typical trope of a cruel guy turning into a sweetheart because of love. Yoh was always a good person who didn't let others get close until Haruna came along.

Regarding other characters, Mami and Fumi were nice. But I HATED Asami! Her behavior was childish, selfish, conceited, and spoiled. She suddenly became interested in Fumi once she learned Haruna liked him, making Fumi suffer for no reason. She hated on Haruna despite Haruna being kind to her. And don’t get me started on that creepy sister complex! Asaoka was also creepy. You could never trust what he said. I wouldn’t be friends with someone who almost kissed my partner “to make a point.” I believe he meant every word when he made moves on Haruna, not for Yoh’s sake.

    Enjoyment 7/10

For the first 20 or 30 chapters, I really enjoyed the story. However, it went downhill until the end, which had a fairly good conclusion.

    Overall 7/10

This manga is enjoyable, but the initial chapters set high expectations that weren’t met.

High School Debut has plenty of reviews, but I feel compelled to write another one. Despite its high score on MAL, this manga is underappreciated.

Warning: This review is going to be loooooong!

I didn't expect much initially – the plot sounded somewhat cheeky and very typical shoujo-like. But! How could it be typical when the author is Kazune Kawahara, who also created the unique Ore Monogatari!! and the touching Tomodachi no Hanashi? Not realizing who she was, I had no high expectations... What a sweet surprise it turned out to be!

    Story - 9 - GREAT
At first glance, the story seems cliché. Haruna was busy with sports in middle school and didn't have time for romance. She read many shoujo mangas and magazines, promising herself she'd find a boyfriend in high school. The problem? Haruna doesn't know how to attract boys and drives them away with her overdone outfits. Her friend suggests finding a coach, just like she did for softball. Enter Yoh Komiyama, a handsome and popular guy Haruna met earlier. Though he claims to hate girls, he agrees to be Haruna's coach under one condition – she can't fall in love with him. Thus begins their story.

It's pretty predictable what happens next, right?
    !!!OBVIOUS SPOILER!!!
She falls for him, but not instantly. Their bond forms naturally, not forced by the mangaka. Their relationship progresses throughout the manga, growing more mature. Unlike some shoujo characters, they don't become childish with time.

The story focuses solely on their relationship. It's nothing grand, so why the high score? Because there are no imposed dramas. There are struggles, sure, but characters solve problems without melodrama. No fireworks festival, beach day, or camping here. The story is simple yet not cliché.

Why not a perfect 10? Many interesting characters are introduced, but you only learn about a few. More backstory would've been nice.

    Art - 9 - GREAT
Simple but pretty. The heroine is muscular, not slender – fitting since she's strong and good at sports. Her smile brightens your day. Each character has unique features, unlike most shoujo bishes that differ only in hair color. I take one point off because backgrounds were bland.

    Character - 10 - OUTSTANDING
    Yes, they deserve a ten!
Haruna may seem like a cheerful, naive girl, but she's a ray of sunshine. How often do you hear a girl say "I'll protect you" to a guy? She treasures Yoh so much, it melts your heart. Warning: If you get secondhand embarrassment easily (like me), brace yourself. Haruna is incredibly straightforward. Despite her joyful, silly behavior, she's sensible, strong, and brave. If she does wrong, she notices and improves.

Speaking of improving – Yoh! Your gloomy tsundere boy. His character development is strong! He changes but remains true to himself. Blunt yet kind, he has scars but isn't stuck. When he expresses feelings, he makes you melt like Haruna. Don't judge him by looks; there's much more to him.

Their friends are intriguing, especially Asaoka and Assa. Assa, Yoh’s sister, claims she has a bad personality – she isn’t wrong. Teasing Haruna, mean often, narcissistic, but somehow likable. Complex, you should form your own view. Asaoka? Still unsure about his mind. Manipulative, smart, cunning, yet cares for friends. Assa teases Haruna, Asaoka teases Yoh...

    Enjoyment - 10 - OUTSTANDING
What can I say? A sweet surprise.
The characters never disappointed. Enjoyed every interaction, progress, change. Watching them surmount obstacles was nice. Gags (mostly Haruna) made me laugh till tears, and the story touched my heart.

    Overall - 10 - OF COURSE!
If tired of clichés, read this manga. If tired of stupid dramas, read it. If craving solid character development and healthy relationships, read it. If you want your heart touched, highly recommend this manga. If a simple shoujo manga makes one spend an evening writing a ridiculously long review, you know it's good.

It's truly an incredible manga. It makes me feel a range of emotions - sometimes joy, other times it has me contemplating the true essence of "love," and most often, it deeply moves me. From start to finish, this manga and its characters have become integral parts of my life, guiding me in how I navigate my own experiences. Haruna's optimistic mindset and the way both Haruna and Yoh give their all in everything they do have left a lasting impression on me. There's something about Haruna that embodies what it means to love someone with your whole heart. Thank you, Kawahara-san, for creating such a masterpiece. ^^
