Lacking in self-esteem and dealing with social anxiety, eighth-grader Hikage Sumino has lived largely unnoticed. When she entered middle school, she resolved to make some friends. However, by the end of her first year, this goal remained unmet. Her only solace comes from a lone flower she found and tends to regularly, and her sunflower-themed internet blog titled "1 Centimeter of Happiness," where she shares her thoughts and experiences. Despite typically only receiving two visitors, Hikage finds comfort in their comments and appreciates their support. One day, she is surprised to discover that two of the most popular boys in her school, Hinata Mutou and Teru Mikami, not only know of her but remember her name. Shocked by this revelation, she posts about the encounter on her blog and receives an encouraging comment from one of her regular visitors. Inspired by her online friend's advice, she gains some confidence and aspires to transform her world for the better. "I Am Here" was initially published in English by Del Rey Manga under the title "I Am Here." They released one 2-in-1 omnibus on November 23, 2010, before ceasing operations. Kodansha Comics USA then took over the license, publishing the second and final omnibus on July 26, 2011, and reissued the first omnibus on December 18, 2012.
