Wyatt Smithwright is a secondary character in Beyblade: V-Force. He's an ardent admirer of Kai, following him whenever possible, trying to engage him, and attempting to have meaningful conversations.
Wyatt was one of Kai's classmates from the private all-boy school called 'Whitney Prep School' at the start of Beyblade: V-Force. He even followed Kai to his apartment, where he was reluctantly let in. Admiring Kai's trophies and beyblades, Wyatt witnessed an attack by Dunga. During this incident, Kai saved Wyatt by tossing him out of a window into some cardboard boxes. Earlier, Kai also shielded Wyatt from Vortex Ape inside the school building.
Later, Wyatt found a challenge note meant for Kai and decided to confront Dunga with Kai's Dranzer and launcher. When Kai arrived, he permitted Wyatt to battle but Wyatt couldn't manage Dranzer's power. The clash between Dranzer and Vortex Ape sent shock waves that pushed Wyatt over the rooftop fence. To prevent Wyatt's fall, Kai saved him again. After Kai's tied match with Dunga, he rejoined the Bladebreakers, leaving Wyatt craving recognition.
One day, Wyatt approached Kai for beyblading advice but was bluntly rejected. Feeling frustrated and seeking acknowledgment, Wyatt met Team Psykick’s Dr. B, who trained him and gave him a Cyber Bit-Beast matching Dranzer. Hopeful, Wyatt challenged Kai but was declined; instead, Dunga battled the new Psykick recruit.
Although Cyber Dranzer initially seemed powerful, it overwhelmed Wyatt, sapping his energy and driving him mad. Near the end of the battle, Wyatt was exhausted and practically insane. Upon winning, Wyatt collapsed and died in Kai's arms. In the English dub, Wyatt's death wasn’t shown; instead, it was stated that he went crazy, and Kai remarked, "He was never the same again."
Kai felt guilty for not helping Wyatt, leading to hallucinations during his fight against Goki due to their similar possessed looks from Cyber Dranzer. It took the other Bladebreakers members to snap Kai back to reality, preventing him from losing the match due to his illusions.
