He is friendly and outgoing, though despite his niceness, he has yet to fully grasp the sensitivity of women. Throughout the story, he frequently teases the main cast of girls, with the intensity of his teasing varying from girl to girl. However, he also has a gentle side that makes him seem like an older brother, as observed by Shiori Misaka. Yuuichi used to visit the city where the story unfolds but has lost his memories of those times, which gradually return as he reconnects with people from his past. He admits to having a fear of heights. Initially unaware, Yuuichi slowly becomes aware of the supernatural events happening in the city. During moments of discovery, when he uncovers something extraordinary, he remains steadfast, supported by the close friendships he has formed with the girls. As a regular person, he strives to assist them in any way possible and often goes out of his way to protect one or more of these girls. Eventually, Yuuichi falls in love with Ayu and shares a kiss with her.
