Despite being the same age as almost all the other characters, she is viewed as an older sister figure and is called Anego by Haruka. Yuiko has a fondness for things or people she deems cute, including several female characters in the cast. Academically, she excels, particularly in mathematics. Born outside Japan, she remains fully Japanese. Her birth name was Elizabeth, often shortened to Lizbeth, but she prefers to be known as Kurugaya. Despite her impeccable image, Yuiko struggles with understanding emotions and has been faking them. Due to her high intelligence, she has faced bullying and criticism from teachers. She strongly dislikes being called by her real name, Yuiko, or nicknames like Yui-chan, reserving such terms only for her future husband to use.
