One of K's friends and fellow peers, Y was once a powerful magician capable of even raising the dead. However, he succumbed to greed and power, leading to his ostracization and fear from others. In an attempt to gain their love, he created a love potion, but this only worsened the situation as humans began fighting over him. Rather than relinquishing his powers, Y retreated to the desert for solitude. To his horror, the love potion caused the sun itself to fall in love with him, drawing the sun dangerously close to Earth, threatening to crush it. Fortunately, Jin's brother found Y first and taught him how to hide from the sun in exchange for becoming his third pupil. Y is typically seen covered in bandages and is often mistaken for an old man. Due to his concern for D, Y asks K to transfer his magic and knowledge to D, leaving Y as a normal human. Although he dies while trying to save D, he is resurrected by the spell he transferred to D. It is revealed in volume 6 that Y and D got married.
