The Witch, alternatively referred to as the Mage, is a frequently appearing humanoid class within the Disgaea series. Witches are female practitioners of magic. Mages tend to be laid-back and positive-minded, albeit less committed compared to Magicians. Among their own kind, Witches are known as Troyra, a term derived from "troylab," an ancient word signifying "self-sacrifice." At a young age, Witches receive a ribbon from the Magic Association, which aids in controlling their magical abilities and functions as an antenna for receiving updates on new spells from the Association. This arrangement also inadvertently fosters a more optimistic outlook among Witches, as they are not obligated to engage in rigorous study.
