Boris is nothing short of a duplicitous, cunning, and despicable man with an insatiable hunger for power and wealth. Despite his position as the abbot of an abbey—a monastery or church—his actions are far from religious or benevolent. Boris appears to be the antithesis of the priest he pretends to be, mocking the crosses atop the abbey's towers with every malicious deed he commits. He shows little mercy for failure and would not hesitate to eliminate any boy in the abbey who does not meet his expectations. His strictness extends not only to the children but also to the staff—the scientists in the labs and the guards protecting the property. However, he does exhibit slight patience towards stronger and more dependable young men whom he favors, such as Tala and Kai. Boris can also be characterized as something of a "control freak," given that he has cameras installed in every room and corridor of the abbey. This fact has led many fans to speculate about what else Boris might have done and what he is capable of. Boris makes it a point to intimidate others, using fear to exert control over them, which often allows him to triumph in any situation he encounters. Every young man at the abbey, along with all the employees, respects Boris out of fear, and for good reason.
