tsume

Tsume is a rugged, independent wolf who once belonged to a pack. However, his life took a tragic turn when Jagara's troops attacked his pack, resulting in the death of many of his companions. During the assault, Tsume chose to flee, abandoning his fallen and dying comrades. This act led to his ostracization by the remaining pack members, and their leader inflicted a large X-shaped scar across his chest. Overwhelmed with shame, Tsume avoided other packs for years. Eventually, he encounters Toboe, whose presence initially irritates him. Yet, beneath his tough exterior, Tsume feels a deep sympathy and compassion for Toboe. It is Toboe who ultimately persuades Tsume to join the quest for Paradise with the rest of the "pack." Initially skeptical about the stories of Paradise, Tsume follows the group out of an instinctual need to protect them and remain part of a pack. He frequently clashes with Kiba but eventually becomes a believer and finds camaraderie among his pack mates. Among the wolves, Tsume appears to be second only to Kiba in combat skills. He also demonstrates greater logic and observational skills, suggesting he might be the most intelligent of the group. In the anime series, Tsume seems to resemble a Grey wolf or tundra wolf. His name means "claw" in Japanese.
