She is one of Hikari's creations but was later released from their services by their last descendant, Satoshi. Known as the "symbol/guide of eternity," she originally appeared as a pelican statue on a lighthouse. A spirited and lively guardian, she can only maintain human form at night; during the day, she transforms into either a bird-shaped statue or a small bird similar in size to With. Her first appearance is in volume five, where she emerges to assist Daisuke. She seems to possess some unique powers, such as finding magical objects and guiding Daisuke through the mirror of the Sleeping Sage. Later, she moves into the Niwa household and frequently aids Daisuke whenever possible.
In the anime, Towa starts as a bird statue that Dark was supposed to steal from the ruins of an old house damaged by a landslide. When Daisuke first discovers her statue, he remarks on its high value. From then on, after she is released and takes the form of a cute young girl, she becomes very loyal and compassionate towards Daisuke. Personality-wise, she is optimistic, enjoys shopping and cooking, and is caring and somewhat romantic.
Unlike in the manga, she retains her human form during the day and only reverts to her bird form when she is weak, flustered (especially when kissed by Dark), or playing with With. She lives with the Niwa family as their housemaid. In her human form, serving as the Niwa family's maid, Towa dresses in the Gothic Lolita style.
