Tasuki, formerly the leader of the Mount Reikaku bandits, is exceptionally quick and agile. He enjoys joking around with Nuriko, Tamahome, and Chichiri. At 17 years old, he was born in Tai-Tou town, Ko prefecture, at the foot of Mount Reikaku. His true name is Shun'u Kou, named after the star Wings. Tasuki's primary weapon is a flame-throwing Tessen, an iron fan used for combat, which later transforms into a diamond fan usable only by him, thanks to Taitsukun. Besides his prowess with the Tessen, Tasuki is skilled in judo, archery, swordsmanship, and briefly uses ofuda. As a Celestial Warrior, he possesses superhuman speed and is known as Genrou or Huang-Lang (Phantom Wolf) due to his wolf-like appearance.
From a young age, Tasuki found his calling as a bandit when Hakurō, the chief bandit of Mount Reikaku, took him under his wing. He honed his martial arts skills to live up to his mentor's legacy. Alongside fellow bandit Kōji, he mastered the use of an iron fan in combat. Tasuki first encounters Miaka when he kidnaps her to reclaim his position as the leader of Mount Reikaku's bandits. Eventually, he joins Miaka to assist the other Celestial Warriors on their quest, reluctantly leaving Kōji in charge of the bandits.
Known for being straightforward, simple-minded, and quick to fight, Tasuki also has a strong sense of honor. Though he appears blunt, vulgar, and loud, he is sentimental and easily moved to emotion. Tasuki provides frequent comic relief and enjoys teasing others. He values his friends deeply and will not hesitate to protect them. Despite his rough exterior, Tasuki shares a strong bond with Chiriko, whom he mentors like an older brother. Being the youngest child and only son in a family dominated by strong females and a timid father, Tasuki embraces this role wholeheartedly.
Though Tasuki claims to hate women, he demonstrates unwavering loyalty to Miaka and would die protecting her. His feelings are primarily brotherly, but it is revealed that he loves her. He acts on these feelings once while under a spell but attempts to kill himself upon realizing his actions, only to be saved when the spell is broken.
By the end of the series, Tasuki and Chichiri remain the only living Suzaku Celestial Warriors in "The Universe of the Four Gods."
