Takanari is Shizumasa's older twin brother. Due to health issues, he assumes the role of Shizumasa as the [Fake] Emperor, a secret known only to Tōya initially, but later Haine also discovers his true identity. At the start of the story, he comes across as cold and distant, yet under Haine's influence, he gradually becomes kinder and more approachable. Initially, he found Haine annoying and even despised her, but over time, he developed deep feelings for her and desires her to be his. Takanari is the actual creator of the picture book that "Shizumasa" supposedly drew. He harbors strong dislike towards his brother, who turns out to be quite an unpleasant character. One minor distinction between Takanari and Shizumasa is that Takanari's hair appears noticeably darker than his younger twin brother's.
