The main character of the story, Haine, was originally part of the Kamiya family. In fourth grade, she was either sold by her biological father or adopted by the Otomiyas. Although not the brightest person, she has a kind heart. Back in ninth grade, she used to be a "Yanki," or young delinquent, and was known as the "Cinderella of the beach." However, after meeting Shizumasa (her first love), Haine decided to change her ways so she could attend the same school as him and reunite with him.
When she discovers that Takanari is pretending to be Shizusama, Haine struggles with her feelings for both of them. She has stated that when the time comes, she will choose one of them. By Chapter 34, it is revealed that Haine is the daughter of Itsuki (her father from the Otomiya family) and Maika (her mother from the Kamiya family). Overwhelmed by this painful discovery, she reverts to being a delinquent again by the end of Chapter 35.
