Soul Eater, known as "Soul" to his friends, is Maka's Demon Scythe partner. In human form, he looks like a teenage boy with a constant drool streak from his mouth. He behaves like an average teenager, and his personality largely revolves around what he deems "cool." As a self-proclaimed "cool" guy, he usually opts for the direct approach, which often doesn't work out. His obsession with consuming souls sometimes causes friction with Maka, but ultimately, they remain close friends and partners.
He absorbs souls by literally eating them. According to him, it's the texture, not the taste, that counts. When Dr. Stein examined his soul, he described it as "a twisted person with a sarcastic essence."
