skull kid

The Skull Kid is a character initially introduced in Ocarina of Time. Several Skull Kids can be discovered in the Lost Woods, a labyrinthine forest near the game's starting point. This particular Skull Kid stands apart from the others. In Majora's Mask, the direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, the Skull Kid that Link befriended becomes the primary antagonist. Known for being somewhat of a bully and constantly playing tricks, he struggled to make friends. His four closest companions, the Four Giants of Termina, grew angry with him due to his behavior. Believing they abandoned him when they left Clock Town to live with their respective races, he felt isolated. Alone and despondent during a heavy rain, he met Tatl and Tael, who quickly befriended him. He continued his mischief, even targeting the Happy Mask Salesman, from whom he stole the powerful Majora's Mask. Influenced by its power, he cursed many inhabitants of Termina, including Link, sealed away the Four Giants into evil masks, and caused the moon to crash towards Termina, threatening annihilation. At the story's end, the Skull Kid remarks that Link "smells a lot like that fairy kid who taught me that song in the woods," revealing his connection to the Skull Kid befriended through "Saria's Song" to obtain a Piece of Heart.
A Skull Kid also appears in Twilight Princess, where he has the ability to unlock doors in the Sacred Grove, guiding players to the Master Sword and the Temple of Time. Additionally, he features in The Legend of Zelda manga.
