saria

Saria is a character from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. She is a Kokiri girl, admired for her beauty among her fellow Kokiri. Known as a maternal figure within her community, she frequently provides guidance to those who seek it. Her kind-heartedness makes her well-loved by the villagers, especially Mido, who has developed a deep affection for her. Saria shares a strong bond with Link, an outsider among the Kokiri, which sometimes stirs jealousy in Mido, leading him to ostracize Link.

Like other Kokiri, Saria appears no older than thirteen and wears their signature green attire. She has striking blue eyes and vibrant green hair, held by a dark green headband, a rare trait among characters. When Link leaves his house after being summoned by the Great Deku Tree, Saria shows excitement about his meeting but warns him to prepare for potential dangers. After Link receives his quest from the Deku Tree, Saria gives him a Fairy Ocarina as a memento before he departs, watching sorrowfully as he leaves.

Upon returning home during his journey, Link finds Saria in the Sacred Forest Meadow. She senses the meadow's future importance and teaches him "Saria's Song," allowing telepathic communication. This song later cheers Darunia, the Goron leader. Throughout his adventure, Link can contact Saria for advice, learning how much Darunia appreciated her melody.

During Link’s seven-year absence, Saria investigates the spirits’ cries from the Forest Temple but gets captured. Upon awakening in the Temple of Light, Link learns of Hyrule's chaos. Meeting Sheik, he learns of his quest to awaken the Sages, starting with Saria. Back in Kokiri Forest, Link uses Saria’s Song to convince Mido, who reveals her location. After rescuing Saria from the temple, she awakens as the Sage of Forest, giving Link the Forest Medallion. Mido later hints that Saria might have loved Link.

Saria collaborates with other Sages to create a bridge over Ganon’s Castle’s lava moat. Inside the castle, she breaks the Forest Seal. In the end, she joins the other Sages to watch the celebration following Ganondorf’s defeat, sitting on Darunia’s head.
