Shizuka is a pureblood vampire from the Hio clan. She typically presents herself as a serene and poised woman, but her demeanor shifts to one of amusement when taunting others. Despite being a pureblood, even other vampires find her unsettling, earning her the title "Mad Blooming Princess." Born into confinement, she was locked away in isolation, ostensibly for protection due to her family's history of violent madness. However, when she chose to flee with her ex-human lover, his name was placed on the hunter’s execution list, leading to his death, despite not having fallen to Level E status. Shizuka now remains in hiding, wanted by the Hunter’s Association.
She was responsible for turning Zero into a vampire. The Kiryu parents, who killed Shizuka’s lover, faced her wrath. In retaliation, she attacked their family, murdering both parents, biting Zero to curse him, and taking Ichiru with her. Upon regaining her composure, she discovered that her fiancé, Rido Kuran, orchestrated this scheme. To gain power for revenge against Rido, she planned to infiltrate Cross Academy and kill Kaname. Shizuka chose Maria Kurenai as her vessel to hide her identity while at Cross Academy. Maria agreed to lend her body out of admiration and in exchange for some of Shizuka’s blood, which helped improve Maria’s frail health.
Shizuka’s blood could prevent Zero from descending to Level E, prompting Yuuki to risk her life so Zero could drink it. To protect Yuuki, Kaname killed Shizuka. Before dying, she warned Kaname about the darkness he would face and the ominous future he had set for himself. Kaname drank her blood and left some for Zero, but Ichiru arrived first and consumed it instead.
