An orphaned young kitsune named Shippou, whose father was slain by the Thunder Brothers, Hiten and Manten. Seeking vengeance for his father's death, he aligned himself with Kagome and Inuyasha. Shippou was the first character to join their journey as a group. Though capable of shapeshifting, his transformations are fleeting, often imperfect, and easily betrayed by his conspicuous tail. Among his abilities are turning into a flying wooden horse, leaving behind yelping mushrooms and acorns, executing illusion tricks with toys such as his giant spinning top attack, employing his race's famed fox fire magic (which seldom works correctly), and creating illusions where leaves or even he himself multiply. Shippou tends to make sharp, sometimes cheeky remarks towards InuYasha, leading to frequent head bonks as retribution for his unsolicited "wisdom." InuYasha and Kagome act as elder siblings to Shippou. Alongside Kirara in her kitten form, Shippou is one of the smallest members of the group, being its youngest. Due to his diminutive size and weight, during travels, Shippou is commonly seen perched on someone’s shoulder, riding Kirara's back, nestled in Kagome’s arms, or tucked in the basket on Kagome’s bike; it's rare to see him walking or running.
