Sango is a youkai slayer ("youkai taijiya") originating from a village renowned for its professional demon hunters. Unlike the other members of Inuyasha's group, Sango possesses no supernatural abilities. Instead, she wields the Hiraikotsu, an enormous boomerang crafted from youkai bones, and employs a wide array of tools and tactics specifically designed to combat youkai. Sango has suffered immensely due to Naraku's malevolent schemes; her family was murdered and her village obliterated by Naraku's youkai minions. This was all part of Naraku's plan to frame Inuyasha and manipulate Sango into attempting to kill him. When this plot failed, Naraku used a shard of the Shikon Jewel to revive and control Sango's younger brother Kohaku, compelling him to fight against Inuyasha and his companions. This manipulation further ensnared Sango in Naraku's web. Her primary objective is to save Kohaku from Naraku's clutches and preserve his life, although it remains uncertain if she can succeed given that Kohaku's existence is tied to the jewel shard. Sango harbors clear romantic feelings towards Miroku, but she is frequently annoyed by his persistent groping and lecherous behavior. ("Sango" means "coral")
