Occupation: Archaeological Hunter
Satotz, a man who appears to have no mouth, serves as the examiner for the first part of the Hunter Exam. He evaluates the stamina of the examinees by guiding them through an underground tunnel marathon of initially undisclosed length. Despite only appearing to walk briskly, his pace forces the examinees to run faster and faster just to keep up. After exiting the tunnel, Satotz leads them through Numere Marsh, known as "The Swindler's Nest," a dangerous swamp teeming with man-eating creatures, before leaving them at the site of the second exam.
In his regular profession, Satotz is a hunter archaeologist who was inspired by Ging to pursue a Hunter license. Initially motivated by a strong sense of civic duty in his role as a judge, he gradually develops a fondness for Gon and desires to assist him.
