Known as the second brightest student in class 3-A after Chao Lingshen, Hakase, or "Professor," spends most of her time conducting research at Mahora University's science labs when she isn't attending classes. She is the creator of Chachamaru and thus acts as the closest thing to a mother figure for her. Hakase seems to have been aware of magic even before Negi arrived at Mahora, evident from the fact that Chachamaru operates partially on magic and her conversations with Evangeline. She is the only one who knows about Chachamaru's feelings for Negi and assists by designing a more realistic skin-like covering to aid Chachamaru in pursuing her goal.
During the school festival and prior to the martial arts tournament, Hakase helps run the Chao Bao Zi food cart alongside Satsuki. Unlike many of her classmates, she does not accompany Negi on his trip to England.
Hakase serves as Chao Lingshen's right-hand "girl" and plays a crucial role in Chao's plan to reveal magic to the world. She constructs an army of robots powered by the World Tree's magic and develops various anti-wizard measures to neutralize the magical users at Mahora. Her reasons for aiding Chao remain unclear. During Negi's final confrontation with Chao, Hakase becomes genuinely impressed by Negi's magical prowess, which allows him to match her and Chao's most advanced technology.
