A childhood friend of Jade Curtiss, Nephry Balfour, and Dist. Peony is an unconventional and very laidback monarch. He places immense trust in Jade and might be the only person who truly understands him. Peony has a particular fondness for animals known as "rappigs," which he keeps as pets, naming them after individuals he admires, including Jade, Nephry, Saphir/Dist, Aslan Frings, Gelda Nebilim, and Luke. Once, he was deeply in love with Nephry and even set aside a mansion they were to share. However, due to her status as a "commoner," their union was impossible. Eventually, she married someone else, and the emperor has never fully moved on, refusing to marry anyone else. Despite this, he remains something of a lecher, eagerly seizing any chance to ogle women, such as by offering free passes to the Keterburg spa and gifting risqué bathing suits.
