Arietta is a shy girl who was raised by Ligers after losing her parents in a tidal wave that destroyed the Isle of Feres. Since then, she has developed the ability to control monsters and animals to assist her in battle. She specializes in dark-based fonic artes like Bloody Howling and Negative Gate, and casts defensive fonic artes such as Barrier and Sharpness on her monster companions during combat. In her final two battles, players can steal accessories from her, including the Time-Traveling Girl and the Rare Genius, for Anise. Arietta was once the Fon Master Guardian of Ion, and harbors deep resentment towards Anise for "taking Ion away" from her. Arietta seeks revenge on Luke's party for killing the Liger Queen early in the game, whom she refers to as "Mommy". In reality, the Ion accompanying the party is one of many replicas of the original. Arietta was unaware of this fact, nor did she know that she had been removed as the Fon Master Guardian to keep the replica's identity a secret. Largo suggests that Arietta would have committed suicide if she had learned what happened to the original Ion. With nowhere else to turn, Arietta joined Van's six God-Generals. Van also transformed the slowly sinking Isle of Feres into Arietta's secret private boat, which once served as Van's headquarters. After Ion's death, Arietta blamed Anise (though Anise was partly responsible, having been coerced into betraying Ion by Grand Maestro Mohs) and challenged her (and the party) to a duel to the death, which she lost. Tragically, Arietta died without realizing that the Ion she pursued so fervently was not the one she truly loved.
