Motoko Aoyama is a 15-year-old high school student known for her formal demeanor and passion for kendo. Her room reflects her dedication, resembling that of a samurai's quarters, complete with a suit of armor. She claims to be descended from a lineage of demon-slaying swordsmen and demonstrates exceptional skill with her katana. Motoko can easily shatter boulders or other objects using just her wooden practice sword. She harbors a deep fear of her older sister, Tsuruko, whose abilities far surpass her own. Motoko also has an unexplained phobia of turtles, which remains a mystery for much of the series. Initially, she disapproves of Keitaro, labeling him as both a pervert and a weakling, but she gradually develops a begrudging respect for him, eventually leading to a hidden affection, much to her dismay. Motoko struggles with her femininity at first, partly because her sister abandoned her sword for marriage, and partly due to her height—she stands at 175cm, making her the tallest person in the house, even taller than Keitaro by 4 cm. Over time, she becomes more comfortable with herself under Keitaro's influence. Regardless of her feelings towards Keitaro, she frequently threatens or attacks him with her sword.
