Keitarō Urashima is a 20-year-old cram school student standing at 171 cm. He is determined to get into Tokyo University to fulfill a childhood promise he made to a girl 15 years ago. However, his journey is fraught with challenges due to his poor luck, bad study habits, and difficulty grasping the material, leading him to fail the entrance exam three times and become a third-year ronin. His grandmother eventually grants him ownership of the Hinata Inn, a girls' dormitory. His clumsiness often gets him into trouble with the residents as he frequently ends up accidentally seeing them naked or inappropriately touching them. Despite these flaws, Keitarō is well-meaning, friendly, and persistent, qualities that ultimately win over the hearts of the girls at the inn.
His evolving relationship with Naru is a central theme of the story. After confessing his love for her, they embark on a rocky relationship filled with ups and downs. Eventually, Keitarō gains acceptance into Tokyo University, keeping his promise to Naru. He later becomes a renowned archaeologist known for his uncanny ability to discover artifacts almost anywhere.
