The other SDF officer who befriended the children and took one of the vacant spots in Zearth's group was an intelligent and perceptive woman. She is married and has a 10-year-old daughter.

Her maiden name was Sato, and she knew Jun and Kana's father 13 years ago. In the anime series, Misumi's husband had already passed away, and her only child turned out to be Jun. However, for reasons unknown, she kept this truth from him, even after Kana asked her to find his real mother. She met her end while confronting assassins sent by Komoda's father, leaving another empty seat among the pilots and dying without revealing her identity to her own son.

In the manga, it is also revealed that her first child was Jun: she left him with Kana's father, who was once her teacher, thirteen years ago because she felt unfit to raise him herself. She died after being captured by the enemy when her fighter plane was shot down by one of the alternate Earth's fighters. After witnessing Kanna's indecision to fight, she took her own life.
