Kodama was selected to pilot Zearth during the third battle against the robot, Cancer. He was a quiet boy who preferred solitude. His father, a cautious man, ran a civilian contracting company. Kodama's two talented older brothers despised their father and sought different paths, but Kodama admired him and his status as a "chosen" individual. To emulate his father’s intellect, Kodama even wore Kokopelli's glasses. Raised by his father, Kodama's ethical and moral compass became distorted, leading him to take pleasure in shooting stray cats with a pellet gun.
As a pilot, Kodama showed no concern for minimizing casualties and found fascination in the destruction he caused. This fascination abruptly ended when he crashed onto his father's car, killing him instantly. Initially stunned, Kodama quickly recovered and used his knowledge of construction to defeat Cancer. Moments later, he died unceremoniously. His death served as a grim reminder to the other pilots of their eventual fate. Kodama's chair was a plush office chair. During his battle, there were 50,000 casualties, many resulting from his own malicious actions.
