Kei's uncle and the doctor at the local clinic, Minoru is somewhat of a lecherous rogue. He frequently makes lascivious comments about the attractiveness of women passing by. This behavior doesn't spare even his wife, who often responds with a calculated degree of physical retaliation. Minoru openly envies Kei's relationship with Mizuho and exhibits more than a touch of perversion, in the Japanese sense of the term. Despite these traits, he often comes to Kei and Mizuho's aid. For instance, he assists in moving Kei's belongings into the newlywed's apartment, buys them a proper wedding ring for their private ceremony, and foots the bill for an expensive hotel in Okinawa for their honeymoon.
